Put any phone online with no tower, no internet.
BYOMesh is the smallest dual-band LoRa radio on the market — sub-GHz for range, 2.4 GHz for speed, on one board that fits in a bottle cap. It drops straight into the mesh you already run.
Open firmware (MeshTNC) · Sold & shipped in the EU · From €69
BYOMesh — two bands, one very small board.
Not another walled garden. BYOMesh speaks the open protocols the community already builds on.
One radio. Three reasons people reach for it.
Pick the job. BYOMesh is built for all three.
Off-grid & resilient comms
When the cell network is down or was never there, a node with an uplink shares it over LoRa. A phone joins the Wi-Fi hotspot and gets a connection — no tower in sight.
Mesh operators
Already running Meshtastic or MeshCore on a single-band board? Drop in BYOMesh and keep your network — now with a second 2.4 GHz band nobody else gives you, in the smallest footprint made.
Builders & integrators
Use the whole stack, or take just the piece you need and plug it into what you already have. Open hardware, open firmware, a KISS modem you can script against.
Three open layers that work together
Use the whole stack — or just one layer. Each one is open.
Hardware — the radio
A tiny dual-band board: a sub-GHz SX1276 and a 2.4 GHz SX1281 with a power amplifier, sharing one antenna. Long range and fast links on the same node.
Firmware — MeshTNC
Turns the radio into a dependable KISS modem and talks to MeshCore, Meshtastic and Reticulum. It's free and open on GitHub, and runs on boards you already own.
Operating system — BYOMeshOS
Manages the radios, runs a Wi-Fi hotspot and routes IP traffic over LoRa — so a phone or laptop reaches the internet through a node that has the uplink. Coming soon
Two bands. One very small board.
Most LoRa boards give you one band and a lot of empty PCB. BYOMesh gives you both bands in the smallest footprint on the market — the frequencies open mesh runs on, plus the 2.4 GHz frontier.
Frequency range
137–1020 MHz + 2.4–2.5 GHz — every common LoRa band plus the 2.4 GHz frontier.
Chipset
ESP32-S3 · SX1276 (sub-GHz LoRa) · SX1281 (2.4 GHz LoRa) · AT2401C RF amplifier.
I/O & power
4-pin header (RX / TX / 5V / GND, included) · uFL antenna port · 5V power.
Why the second band matters
| Typical LoRa board | BYOMesh | |
|---|---|---|
| Bands | Sub-GHz only | Sub-GHz + 2.4 GHz |
| Range vs. speed | Pick one at build time | Long range and fast links on one node |
| Worldwide band | Region-locked sub-GHz | 2.4 GHz works worldwide |
| Footprint | Full-size dev board | Smallest dual-band on the market |
| Mesh software | Usually one ecosystem | MeshCore, Meshtastic & Reticulum |
An open platform, not a product you rent
BYOMesh is a joint project of Dataparty LLC and Source Parts Inc. — built to be built on. The firmware is free and open, the hardware is documented, and nothing here phones home. It's a common base for community-built networks.
Our firmware already runs on the boards you own today — the radio is for when you want the second band. Sold and invoiced in the EU by SourceParts.eu; fulfilled and shipped by Dataparty.
